Adult Clover Mites are slightly smaller than a pin head and have bright reddish to a reddish-brown body. Clover Mites are tiny so that on the walls they look like dark red specks crawling around sidings, doors, windows, drapes, curtains and furniture. If a Clover Mite is accidently crushed, they will cause a stain because of their coloration. Their front legs are as long as the body and will extend forward. Clover Mites can be found in large numbers. Clover Mites do not injure humans and pets nor damage buildings and furnishing but will destroy number of grasses and plants in the yard. Clover Mites can live off of algae and mold as well. Clover Mites will migrate into houses in early summer and fall when their food source begins to die or when the weather become extremes.
Clover Mites can be found where algae and mold grow as in roof tops, cracks in concrete foundations, cracks and crevices of buildings, underside of the bark at the base of trees, and under sidings, sewers, as well as in lawns.
