HOW TO GET RID OF EARWIGS

Earwigs can easily be recognized by their pincers at the end of their abdomen. Their pinchers are harmless to humans. It is only a myth that Earwigs bite. Earwigs are dark reddish-brown, with light brown legs, and are about 5/8'' long. Earwigs lay their eggs under the soil about 2-3'' deep. Earwigs need moisture to survive and are mostly active at night, eating dead insects and decomposing plant materials. They are also attracted to light. If Earwigs appear in the house, it is safe to say that they came from the outdoors through entry points (i.e. doors, crack and crevice, window sills, drains, utility pipes and windows).

EARWIG INSPECTION

During the day, Earwigs can be found under organic matter (i.e. mulch, pine straw, leaf litter). They prefer dark and damp areas such as under sidewalks, and stones. They can come into homes through entry points like doors and windows, and they even go up the foundation.

EARWIG CONTROL METHOD

Earwigs can be controlled with liquid spray, granule, and aerosol.

Liquid spray:
(BIFEN IT , CYPER WP,CYNOFF WP, MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN)
using a liquid hand sprayer (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER),

Granule:
(BIFEN GRANULES , ECO EXEMPT G GRANULES)
using a granule hand spreader (HANDLE SPREADER)

Aerosol:
(CY-KICK AEROSOL, JK27 RESIDUAL,D- FORCE HPX, ECOPCO ACU AEROSOL).

Since earwigs dwell outdoors, you will need to control the earwigs from outside to stop them from coming into the house. For that type of control, use the amount instructed on the label and spread uniformly around your structure to keep them from coming into your home. This treatment is called a barrier treatment because it makes barrier around your home. For the application, it is suggested that you use a liquid spray and granule. Irrigate the lawn after the application of granule to activate the granules. You could use liquid spray for indoor treatment. But, we recommend that you use aerosol instead for indoor because conveniently, aerosol spray is easier and more effective. If you perform the inside treatment using residual aerosol spray, treat entry points such as crack and crevice, doors and windows, openings around pipes and sinks, under refrigerators, behind baseboards, washing machines, stoves, cabinets, sewers, floor drains, storage areas, closets, shelves, and drawers.
